Town Description - 1843

*Louisburg, postal village, capital of Franklin County, North Carolina, 36 north east Raleigh, 262 Washington City. Situated on north side of Tar river. It contains a court house, jail, 2 churches, 10 stores, and about 500 inhabitants.
